Job Description

This role can be done remotely, and has potential for up to 20% travel.

Our General Motors Sustainable Workplaces organization as a whole, has a mission to “Bring our unique capacity to transform the environment in which we live and work.” The Renewables and Energy Strategy team mission is “Achieve 100% decarbonized energy supply for GM's operational footprint by 2035, and supporting GM facilities' energy supply as we transition to an all-electric future.” The Energy Strategy Analyst will be responsible for driving activities in support of GM’s renewable energy goals, which will include working cross-functionally with Global Decarbonization Strategies team to reduce GM’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

This is a hybrid role and does not require employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. Potential for up to 20% travel.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Mechanical, energy, environmental, civil, chemical engineering background preferred but not required



  • Experience with data analysis



  • Basic understanding of US energy markets



  • Proficiency with MS Office



  • Strong time and project management skills

  • Fast learner, capable of quickly gaining domain expertise in the highly complex climate and sustainability markets



Scope:



  • Drive activities in support of GM's renewable energy goals, including working with third parties to contract renewable power purchase agreements and green tariffs



  • Refine facility renewable energy roadmap by modeling load changes expected from GM facilities’ transition to the all-electric future



  • Develop GM’s on-site solar strategy for US facilities



  • Project management for ad hoc energy projects



  • Work cross-functionally with other parts of the organization, including EV Growth Operations and Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, to develop renewable energy solutions that address GM’s scope 3 emissions footprint



  • Engage with external partnerships in the clean energy space to evaluate new technology and other clean energy opportunities to further GM’s emissions reduction efforts

  • Support facility decarbonization efforts as they relate to electricity and natural gas



  • Work closely with SW communications team to showcase GM's sustainability efforts, including award applications



  • Support SW ESG Reporting team with renewable energy sections of Corporate Sustainability Report, including drafting report language and assisting with data verification



Additional Job Description

The expected base compensation for this role is: $72,435.36 - $94,071.96



  • Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.



  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
